Gestating and lactating cats require a 25% increase in nutrient intake, while kittens should be fed by weight listed in the feeding chart as early as 6 weeks of age. These feeding guidelines are averages and the needs of individual cats may vary on their activity levels and what stage of life they are in. Generally, the more active they are (think adventurous outdoor cats) the more they’ll need to eat. Use the chart to the right to determine the nutrition guidelines for your cat. Transition Instructions
When switching your cat’s diet, we recommend it should be done gradually over 5-7 days, increasing the amount each day with the present diet as a sudden change in diet may result in digestive disturbances. KITTEN Post-weaning to 5 months old feed three times as much food as an adult cat of the same weight. Between 5 months to 1-year-old, feed kittens 1.5 to 2 times as much food as an adult cat and start feeding kittens as adults after one year. Moisten food if desired. Always maintain a clean water supply that your kitten can easily access.
